"Everything in my life is so new. Could I please do some of the old things that I know how to do again. I don't know how to go to school with soldiers. Please show me... P.S. Please help the soldiers keep the mob away from me." -Melba Pattillo Beals. Chapter 8, Warriors Don't Cry. Diary Entry.
I find it insane, absurd, ridiculous! That the United States has sent military escorts to Central High School, just so Melba and the rest of the Little Rock Nine can go to school. Why can't the people of Little Rock leave them all alone? I understand there was going to be some argument, but to the point where they had to get the military involved? It's unheard of to me. Never would have even thought that people of America would do this.
